5 TRAINING SESSION PROGRAM

$1,500.00

Session 1: Introduction and Positive Reinforcement

In the first session, the trainer introduces the basic principles of positive reinforcement training to the pet owner. They explain how to use treats, praise, and other rewards to reinforce desired behaviors. The trainer demonstrates and guides the owner in teaching simple commands like sit, stay, and come using positive reinforcement techniques.

Session 2: Leash Manners and Negative Punishment

During this session, the focus is on teaching the pet proper leash manners. The trainer demonstrates and guides the owner on how to use negative punishment, temporarily removing rewards, to discourage pulling or lunging on the leash. Positive reinforcement is used to reward loose leash walking and calm behavior.

Session 3: Distraction Training and Negative Reinforcement

In this session, the trainer introduces distraction training to improve the pet's focus and obedience. The pet learns to respond to commands amidst various distractions. Negative reinforcement is employed by removing or reducing the intensity of an aversive stimulus, such as leash pressure, when the pet responds correctly to a command.

Session 4: Problem Solving and Positive Punishment

If the pet exhibits specific problem behaviors, such as jumping or excessive barking, this session focuses on addressing those issues. The trainer guides the owner in using positive punishment judiciously to deter unwanted behaviors. Techniques such as interrupting the behavior and redirecting the pet to an alternative, desirable behavior are employed.

Session 5: Generalization and Maintenance

The final session is dedicated to generalizing the learned behaviors to various environments and situations. The trainer and owner work together to practice commands and behaviors in different locations and around distractions. The owner receives guidance on maintaining and reinforcing the training principles at home to ensure continued progress.

Throughout the program, the trainer emphasizes the importance of timing, consistency, and appropriate use of the four quadrants of operant conditioning. The pet owner is educated on how to read their pet's body language, identify stress signals, and adjust training techniques accordingly. Positive reinforcement remains the primary focus while the selective use of negative punishment, negative reinforcement, and positive punishment is employed with care and consideration.

It's important to note that while basic pet training can benefit from four-quadrant training principles, the emphasis should be on using positive reinforcement and minimizing aversive techniques. The ultimate goal is to create a positive and rewarding learning experience for the pet, strengthening the bond between the owner and their furry companion.
